Track Record

Track Record

We have a successful track record in starting, acquiring, managing, and selling businesses across diverse geographies in energy, industry, and infrastructure.

Energy

We structure and finance buy-outs in the traditional energy sector, including upstream oil and gas, refining and chemicals, and power generation.

We target late-cycle and non-core divestments from large energy companies and sales from end-of-life private equity funds. We focus on safe and efficient operations, asset-life extension, and liability management.

Industry

We look at acquisitions across a broad range of industries, including mining, materials, food, manufacturing, and transportation.

We focus on businesses with sustainable advantage. This advantage can take many forms, including long-term customer relationships, superior products, improved production processes, access to raw materials, lower logistics costs or enhanced environmental performance.

Infrastructure

We invest in local infrastructure projects including  telecommunications, networks, energy storage, resorts and hotel, regional ports and airports.

We seek out new, underinvested, or underperforming opportunities with the potential to remove bottlenecks, serve unmet demand, and develop new markets. We specialise in smaller-scale projects below the radar of infrastructure funds.

Efficient energy
production

Energy

We acquired Japan Canada Oilsands Ltd (JACOS) a non-core subsidiary of JAPEX, the Japanese energy company, through the formation of Greenfire Resources. We partnered with an entrepreneurial management team to introduce a new operating philosophy, whereby we were able to substantially increase production and reduce operating costs. Greenfire is now publicly listed on the NYSE and TSX (GFR) and we remain the largest shareholder, whilst sharing in the wealth creation with the employees.

Creating industrial
technology

Industry

We invested in Arq, an industrial technology company that processes mining waste and produces carbon products. We subsequently merged Arq with Advanced Emissions Solutions Inc, a NASDAQ listed manufacturing businesses that produces activated carbon, a product used to remove impurities from water and gas. The combined business has material competitive advantage and produces a high performing activated carbon with low production costs and emissions. We remain a large shareholder in ADES.

Extending communication
networks

Infrastructure

We acquired Link Africa, the satellite communications subsidiary of Celtel, a pan-African mobile phone company. We established Gateway Communications as a focused satellite communications provider for telephone companies and multinational corporations operating in Africa. We subsequently sold Gateway to Vodacom, the African subsidiary of Vodafone.
